Featured Published Artist-- Valea

As part of a month-long spotlight on Published Artists, Valea is being featured at DAZ 3D today.

Valea is best known for her wonderful characters and versatile hair. Let get to know a bit more about this popular Artist.

Here's what we found out:

DAZ: Have you studied any other art mediums?
Valea: I have some self-taught experience in the traditional mediums and I’ve done a lot of oil paintings and watercolor paintings a few years ago – but I have never really studied any of these mediums, apart from the work in my arts classes in the last years at school. The only thing I have ever studied related to art is arts history.


DAZ: What is your favorite project? Why?
Valea: It’s Bijou... and I think that is because the whole package is quite complete and it is the project that has surprised me the most when it was finished.
Ever since I have started with characters, I wanted to give them their own hair to make them appear more like human beings, just like everyone is born with their own hair.
I wanted something that really belongs to the character, not any hair from my library but something that would fit the whole concept.
I have spent hours browsing through my hair library to get the right look, when I had to do promo images and sometimes it was hard get it right, even though there are so many great models available.
So this time with Bijou, it was just what I wanted – something close to a complete human being. And aside from that, I have just spent a lot of time with this package…

DAZ: What is your most popular product?
Valea: That should be Chocolate Hair – I don’t know why, but I guess it’s because it can be worn by the girls and the boys.

DAZ: Where do you get your inspiration?
Valea: Well, inspiration comes from quite anything – a movie, a book, a certain image or mood... but at the moment it is most often coming from the extensive reading of fashion magazines…;-)

DAZ: What can you tell us about yourself that no one else knows?
Valea: Uh... apart from wearing cow patterned slippers at home...? Not easy…
Ok, let’s just stick with hair – it may be strange, but I think that not many people know the true color of my own hair. I guess that this is something that only my mother knows for sure – it’s a dark ash blonde, something we call “Straßenköterblond” here in germany. I think that the translation would be stray dog blonde… and it is the reason why I have dyed my hair ever since I was 12 years old.;-)

DAZ: Is there anything else you’d like to say to the Customers at DAZ 3D?
Valea: Ok, this is not very original – but I want to take this opportunity to simply say thank you all very much for your support. It is very, very much appreciated and it makes me work harder with every new project.:-)
